"Don't give up the strip!" Misquoting Captain Lawrence and other figures of history is part of the fun in History Bluffs. My cartoon is designed for the true history buff and also for the novice. It's written for young kids and old kids alike. The basic idea of the 'bluffs' is to get all kind of folks interested in history. Some really love it and others could care less about our past. Some say that history was cruel and shouldn't be mocked or taunted. But, I learned early in life that ' laughter is the shock absorber of life's blows'.
The one thing I like to get my readers to do is 'look it up'. And, it's happened... quite a bit. A reader may have read one of my 'bluffs', and thought it was funny, but really didn't 'get the joke'. So, they went online, did some research on the historical event, and then ended up laughing even harder, after they learned about it. "A delayed laughter is better than no laughter at all." says me.
